聖人常無心，以百姓心為心。善者吾善之，不善者吾亦善之，德善。信者吾信之，不信者吾亦信之，德信。聖人在天下，歙歙為天下渾其心，百姓皆注其耳目，聖人皆孩之。 |

The shengren does not care to have his mind on his personal concerns. He always has his mind on the people’s concerns. |
| shan zhe wu shan zhi 善者吾善之 |
For those who can do things well enough, I will treat them well. |
|
bu shan zhe wu yi shan zhi |
For those who cannot do things well enough, I will also treat them well. |
|
de shan |
It is the kind of leadership quality of treating people well with de. |
|
xin zhe wu xin zhi |
For those who are capable, I will have faith in them. |
|
bu xin zhe wu yi xin |
For those who are less capable, I will also have faith in them. |
|
de xin |
It is the kind of leadership quality of having faith in people with de. |
|
sheng ren zai tian xia, xi xi yan wei tian xia hun qi xin |
As a leader, the shengren spends every minute to have his mind on the country and care for it. |

All of the people will pay attention to him. The shengren will nurture everyone as if he is nurturing his own children. |
